CoDesign Culture Lab

culture lab event

The CoDesign Culture Lab — led by the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) — featured workshops, presentations, facilitated CoDesign sessions, and public programs. Innovations in engineering and computer science practice, teaching and critical discourse were explored.

About the CoDesign Culture Lab

We cannot deploy methods and techniques of the past and expect different outcomes for the future. We need to reimagine problem solving. We need to work together to form interdisciplinary teams of world class thinkers. We need diverse groups of people who will collaborate to codesign ways of tackling the complexity before us.

During our recent CoDesign Culture Lab, we continued to work together with our network of collaborators – those who inspire and provoke us; those who keep us active and accountable. Through four days of workshops and speakers, we learned about each other’s work and provocations. As the week progressed, we codesigned research and education agendas and explored diverse models of innovative practice.

Program information

The event program details how we spent our time together over the three and a half days, and provides brief background information on the individuals who shared their knowledge and experience in workshops, talks and discussions.

Please note some sessions in this program were available by invitation only.

The CECS Reimagine Fellows conducted workshops during Culture Lab, investigating ways to

  • Work together to deliver teaching excellence (Neil Kaines)
  • Lead from where you are: leadership development for higher degree by research students (Dr. Cathy Ayres)
  • Design the future of environmental engineering (Professor Wojciech Lipinski)
  • Develop a toolkit for academics (Lori Sciusco)
  • Create an Engineering Positive Impact (E+i) hub at the ANU (Jeremy Smith)
  • Design Code/Creativity/Culture curriculum (Dr. Ben Swift and Dr. Charles Martin)

Continue the conversation with us to learn more about codesigning the future of education for engineering and technology.
