Weifa received the PhD degree from the Australian National University in 1998, the ME degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1989, and the BSc degree from Wuhan University, China in 1984, all in computer science. He is currently Professor in the Research School of Computer Science at the Australian National University. His research interests include design and analysis of algorithms and protocols for wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, Software-Defined-Networking (SDN), cloud computing, information processing in wireless sensor networks, design and analysis of parallel and distributed algorithms, approximation algorithms for combinatorial optimization problems, and graph theory. He has been a Senior Member of the IEEE since 2001.

Research Description

My main research focuses are developing fast and efficient routing approximation algorithms for fundamental optimization problems raised in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, these include multicasting, data gathering, trajectory finding of mobile sinks, etc, with the aim of optimizing critical network resources and prolonging network life) that will help environmental monitoring and security surveillance. We also focus on the operational cost minimization in a distributed cloud computing by exploiting electricity diversities geographically, and close community finding in a large-scale social networks.
